First Expedition
2040
It began with a question asked over dinner in Houston in the winter of 2024. Dr. Elena Vasquez — aerospace engineer, former NASA mission director and the woman who would become Selene's founder and CEO — turned to her co-founder James Okoro and asked: "Why should going to the Moon feel like a military operation? Why can't it feel like the greatest holiday of your life?"
Within six months they had a business plan. Within a year they had their first investor. Within three years they had changed the course of human history.
Selene Expeditions was formally incorporated in Houston, Texas in January 2025, with a co-headquarters established in Geneva to manage its international investment consortium. The name was chosen deliberately — Selene, the Greek goddess of the Moon, embodying both the scientific and the poetic.
